Every rose has its thorn...
Well, it's been an interesting week as most of them turn out to be somewhat like that regardless of it I even put any effort in to it or not.
To get me through the week I've been listening to Joy Division, Arctic Monkeys with a dash of Alexisonfire and a pinch of Sublime.
I hung out with Lee and we went for drinks, quite a few in fact at Samesun, met up with his old lady friend Gitta and went to the Roxy for my 2nd time every being there, again, mediocre. But it's all about the company you've got really. Has its moments and a decent house band (so they say, but they didn't play my Misfits request the week prior).
Wednesday had a fuckin gnarly experience when Dustin and I were walking down the street and some douchebag who nearly hit this lady on a scooter whilst trying to run through a red light freaked out when Dustin touched his car with his shoe when we were trying to cross at the intersection he was in the middle of. Dude got out and was trying to swing punches at Dustin, but I was trying to break it up and he pushed me in to oncoming traffic so I was a foot away from being hit. Some other dude saw the whole thing and got out of his car and was like "You almost hit that girl" and got in on the altercation, and we decided it was probably best to get out of there since someone had called the cops on this fucker. But just before bailing Dustin turned back after he realized what this guy did and actually hit him. It was so fuckin' intense and our adrenaline was super high. Was in such disbelief. Thankfully even though that guy hit my finger, I put an ice pack on it and it got a bit better over time and didn't get re-injured. Then we made maccaroni and watched more Sopranos.
Thursday was Dustin's birthday and I had two couchsurfers from Scotland come and party with us. Lucy and Sophie, they found their way to mine and we pretty much headed out from there on out. They're lovely gals and I'm glad to have them surf my couch. We got over and went to the liquor store right away cos Dustin wanted to party, and boy did he. We drank a few Jagerbombs before we left the house at about 930 and then Lee and Anthony came over with us, acoustic guitar in hand and we walked down to the beach. Found a pretty rad spot, set up shop. Sung songs, joined the people next to us. Brandon met up with us too and we got to more drinking. It was a very fun evening, intoxication abound. Dustin might have drank a bit too much, which is an understatement but it was his birthday after all, so I made sure that he got home safely and in pretty much one piece, with a bit of assisted standing power. All 5 of us got back, crashed and by that point it was well past 330 and I had to be at work at 8. Felt like a zombie half the day. Then went home last night, ate, took a nap at 7pm then didn't wake up til my surfers rang me at 12 to get in! But that was totally cool. I went back to sleep, woke up at 8 fresh as a daisy.
Tonight we're going to the Vancouver Nightmarket in Chinatown for bubble tea and an experience, then going to collect Dustin after band practice and stroll down to Pat's Pub for the Grease N Grind which should be pretty rad. Lee is doing the sound mixing.
Going to see if I can manage to get Thursday/Friday as vacation days and go down to Tofino with Lee and some of his friends I haven't met cos I've wanted to go back there for ages. But if that doesn't work out maybe I could make another trip of it some time. I do deserve a vacation after all!
So far as I know my dearest Niklas is still coming from Sweden to do the working holiday here for a year and live with me before we get on the road for more traveling next year. He'll be applying in August and here for mid September. I'm so stoked to find somewhere rad to live though, I really can't wait to be closer to work!
Oh, and I got a raise!!
