mhmm
so apparently some of the bands i listed and want to see are not going to be at warped tour, i was aware of this before i wrote that i think however i just wasn't certain which ones wouldn't be there, although tiger army i didn't think would be there, that would be too lucky. however those ones that are on the line up i would like to see, and most likely will not see all of them on that same fortunate day.
i had a swell time at my gathering last night, there were probably just under 40 people at the most at a given point. and everything went well.. not very many things broken, one plant stepped on, and i wasn't murdered for it. there was a game called thumbs that was a little intriguing, a little confusing why one would want to play, but i got all up in it. basically slappage on forearms with two fingers if you add numbers correctly dependant on how many thumbs are called up at the same time as the number. it attracted few, not many. and i have a few red marks on my arms today. i didn't get sauced, i felt good though! only once did the barf feeling happen and then i decided i wouldn't drink more, so it passed, luckily! i guess i can do it if i don't to excess. ralph excess, no gold. dave informed me of many situations on what to drink and how you have to from time to time..look like an idiot to enjoy yourself. maybe this is true, but i don't think i'm in any rush to go out and do that. one thing was amiss that would have made the party radder...you know what i'm talkin about, where the fuck was the stripper! it was my birthday and all! nah, not quite.
a few gals commented on how my room and it's gigantic size is very sitcomesque. as though it's from full house or something, but it's not quite. although the size is big, it wasn't intentionally supposed to be a bedroom... and i've just done some killer decorating and now not a thing moves, except sometimes the bed and desk when i get bored. maybe i should move it all around again, eh. too much work. not enough motivation. i alphebetized my cds and color coordinated my movies, thats much simpler than moving furniture! meh, it'll move when i move i guess. that'll suffice.
i start on wednesday at value village, i'll find out if it's part time cashier or for halloween help. i'm in no rush to cancel the flight to london becuase i'm not going to get any more money back if i did it today than if i did it the day before the flight. so no real worries there. maybe i'll be able to do both, or maybe the job won't be AS rad as i'm hoping it will be. but i get to wear whatever i want so long as it's not spaghetti strapped shirt/open toe-d shoes/shorts longer than your arms reach. i have clothes that fit all of those perfectly. now i will leave with quotes from an amazing film
Creation seems to come out of imperfection. It seems to come out of a striving and a frustration, and this is where I think language came from. It came from our desire to transcend our isolation and have some sort of connection with one another. And it had to be easy, when it was just simple survival, like you know...water, we came up with a sound for that, or sabre-toothed tiger right behind you!, we came up with a sound for that. But, when it gets really interesting, I think, is when we use that same system of symbols to communicate all the abstract and intangible things that we're experiencing. What is frustration? or what is anger? or love? When I say "love," the sound comes out of my mouth and hits the other person's ear, travels through this Byzantine conduit in their brain, through their memories of love, or lack of love, and they register what I'm saying, and they say "Yes, I understand," but how do I know they understand? Words are inert; They're just symbols; They're dead. You know? And, so much of our experience is intangible. So much of what we perceive cannot be expressed; It's unspeakable. Yet, when we communicate with one another, and we feel that we have connected, and we think that we are understood, I think we have a feeling of almost spiritual communion, and that feeling might be transient, but I think it's what we live for.
On this bridge, Lorca warns: Life is not a dream, beware, and beware, and beware. And so many think because then happened, now isn't. But didn't I mention? the ongoing *WOW* is happening right now. We are all co-authors of this dancing exuberance, for even our inabilities are having a roast. We are the authors of ourselves, co-authoring a gigantic Dostoevsky novel starring clowns. This entire thing we're involved with called the world is an opportunity to exhibit how exciting alienation can be. Life is a matter of a miracle that is collected over time by moments flabbergasted to be in each others' presence. The world is an exam, to see if we can rise into the direct experiences. Our eyesight is here as a test, to see if we can see beyond it. Matter is here as a test for our curiosity. Doubt is here as an exam for our vitality. Thomas Mann wrote that he would rather participate in life than write a hundred stories. Giacometti was once run down by a car, and he recalled falling into a lucid faint - a sudden exhiliration as he realized at last, something was happening to him. An assumption developed that you cannot understand life and live life simultaneously. I do not agree entirely, which is to say, I do not exactly disagree. I would say that life understood is life lived. But, the paradoxes bug me, and I can learn to love and make love to the paradoxes that bug me, and on really romantic evenings of self, I go salsa dancing with my confusion. Before you drift off, don't forget, which is to say remember, because remembering is so much more a psychotic activity than forgeting: Lorca, in that same poem, said that the Iguana will bite those who do not dream, and as one realizes that one is a dream figure in another person's dream....that is self-awareness!
