do you think you made the right decision this time?
Well, on Monday after a 12-7 shift I didn't really feel like doing much so I came home and loafed a bit then I watched 24 hour party people, I bought this movie without having seen it, because.. well with a title like that, could you really go wrong? I tried to watch it about a year ago but I never really was in the mood to finish it, or watch it, and I left it at that. So I put it on the other night and was definatly enjoying it, and thinking why on earth I wasnt in the mood to watch it before. Since then I've purchased my fair share of movies so I guess the watching process got cut back until this time.
In any event, it's a really fucking good movie about the Manchester new-wave indie scene and this Journalist, Tony Wilson, who starts up a completely new idea for a record label and signs Joy Division, Happy Mondays and New Order. It's all related around a true story, and there is this awesome line at the end where God sais to Tony " It's a pity you didn't sign the Smiths." and I didn't spoil anything, it's not like the guy dies, or does he? There you go. I tried to confuse. But the line was classic. By the time I was finished the movie it was 3 am.
Then it became yesterday...the dreaded day where we were supposed to get 30 cm of snow and freezing snow-rain. (not exactly hail) and everyone was recommended to stay indoors. For some reason, my work still wanted to stay open because the coffee shop on the corner was doing so. But I'm pretty sure I'd rather have coffee (even though I don't drink it) than a pita. If I were to stop at all...maybe. I ended up not having to go in because mumsy was all paranoid about my shitty tires and 'risking my life' to drive home at 11. Which is logical, cause if a shitty ol car is parked in freezing conditions for a few hours until its colder then.. it's hard to get home. whatever, i didnt work, lost 39 dollars but made it count.
At about 3 I met up with Steph, carrying a flourescent orange sled that I got ages ago. When you're 18 holding an orange sled it doesn't quite have the same effect as a child of say, 8, holding the sled. So we got a few questionable looks, I'm sure. Who cares though! Once we got to her house, we did some sledding in the back yard down about 6 created hills that were scattered through out the yard. It was fun for real. I just used to go down the raveen hill in my back yard on a kamakazee (sp for sure) mission towards trees when I was younger. Must have been worth it though, considering I kept doing it.
After a while we ended up walking back to my house, then going to Subway, and back here. At this point I was missing work time, but since I live a 2 minute walk from subway I was safe from driving. hah. Mark came over and we sat around for a while, then decided to watch this movie that steph got at blockbuster on the walk back from subway, it cost .99 cents to BUY. can't really go wrong. She had seen it before though. It was pretty fucked up.
The idea behind Series 7 : The Contenders. was that it was mocking reality shows to the extreme. It took place in various states in America, but this seventh series was in Connecticut. Six Americans are chosen at random and given guns. One of the contenders is from the previous 6 rounds, meaning that she's killed off the other 5 contenders every time. So, it's absolutly legal for these 6 people to walk around anywhere holding guns just so long as they kill each other. They are all followed around with a camera the whole time. Somehow this time it has worked out that the ultimate killer lady was an old friend with one of the guys she has to kill now. (There is a placement of Love Will Tear Us Apart by Joy Division in this movie as well. which is wierd since just the night before I watched 24 hour party people and before watching series 7 I was listening to 2 joy division CD's, aside the point) Anyways, the movie has a classic ending, just like the other one. It's way too hilarious watching this one though. Beyond belief, but not, because it's America haha. Hopefully this movie didn't give any creators new ideas for the NEXT reality series, because obviously they are never ending. Now it's time to do something for today. I wonder if my piano student will show up due to shitt road conditions. Hmm.. I'll see in about 2 hours...byee.
